I just comb the staples of wool before I spin using a metal dog comb and I spin from the centre of the staple not from the end.  Dyed mohair goes nicely with the wool as seen in the next photo.

I spin one reel of wool with tufts of mohair added at intervals as I spin.  The next reel is just all wool.  Then I ply the two together. This is how I spun the wool for the hand spun wool jumper.
