Making Up

Sew shoulders together.  Sew sleeve head to shoulder matching centres.  Sew up side seam & sleeve seam.

Buttonhole Band

With 4.5mm needles and right side front facing, beginning at band pick up stitches along edge, finishing at shaping for neck.  I like to pick up 3 stitches for every 4 rows of knitting.  Work in K1 P1 rib for 3 rows.  Next row K1 P1 twice cast off 2 sts for first buttonhole.

With the number of stitches you have left work 3 more buttonholes evenly up the band.  Next row work in rib but cast on 2 stitches at each buttonhole.  Knit 4 more rows in rib then cast off loosely. Repeat band for left side but omit the buttonholes.

Collar

With 4.5mm needles cast on 136 sts.   K1 P1 rib for 9 rows.  Next, cast off 4 sts every row for 6 rows.  Then 6 sts every row for 4 rows.  Cast off remaining stitches.

Pin centre back of collar to centre back of cardigan.  Neatly sew the ends to the front bands then stretching lightly pin collar around neck, applying more stretch across the back neck.    This collar stands up neatly across the back of your neck, or you can roll it down slightly.
